Today’s education-focused technologies enable the easy and often unseen transfer of student data from one system to another. At Mt. Olive School District, we take student data privacy seriously and are working to comply with Illinois’ new data privacy law known as SOPPA.

What is SOPPA?

Effective July 1, 2021, school districts will be required by the Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA) to provide additional guarantees that student data is protected when collected by educational technology companies, and that data is used for beneficial purposes only. Families are encouraged to learn more about this law by reading this legal brief.

Compliance for Teachers

Teachers, in order to use an online resource with your students our district needs to have a signed agreement with the provider. Please contact Mrs. England if your desired resource is not already on our list.
