💍 Q & U Wedding Day in Miss Seely’s Class! 💍
Miss Seely’s kindergarten class had the most magical literacy celebration as we officially married Q & U! 💒📚
Our students planned the big day from start to finish—designing a wedding cake and dress, reading a decodable story about Q & U getting married, and learning why these two letters always stick together for the /kw/ sound. During the ceremony, the Significant Letters proudly said “I do” and promised to stay side-by-side in every word they appear in.
After the ceremony, we celebrated with a reception full of dancing, Ring Pops, bouquet tosses, cake, and Capri Suns 🧁💃. We even welcomed students from older grades back to relive their kindergarten Q & U wedding memories for a song or two!
It was a joyful, hands-on project-based learning experience that brought phonics to life and created memories our students won’t forget. 💕
What a great day to be a kindergartener! 🎉📖

Happy Holidays to you and your families!

On Tuesday, December 16th, at 1PM, Mt. Olive school District #5 presented A Winter Concert, featuring performances by the 5th through 12th grade band students. The gym was packed with parents, students, and staff who enjoyed the wonderful musical performances. Our Band Director, Mr. Stan Dunlap, put together a great show for us all, featuring classics like Jolly Old St. Nicholas and Jingle Bells, as well as so more modern spins on Chirstmas classics, such as Jammin' on the Rooftop and Holiday Flutecake. The main event for most was probably A Letter to Santa, performed by the high school band, with narration by Aubrey DeVries. The Cats' Connection News team worked in collaboration with Mr. Dunlap and Mt. Olive School Bands to record the entire event, and today, after much editing and tweaking, we finally have the finished product for you all. So here's the full event: A Winter Concert, by Mt. Olive School Bands!
