February edition of the Cat's Connection!

Mrs. Komor's class read about the phases of the moon this week. We learned about the new moon, waxing moon, full moon, and waning moon. We used Oreo cookies to recreate the phases. It was a delicious way to help us remember how the moon appears to change.

The US History class has been working extensively on the understanding of World War II. They learned about the Homefront and what our allies and the US did to support the war effort. We are now talking about the major battles and battlefields of Europe and later the Pacific Theatres. In the process of learning the students did a hands-on lab in which they ate like a soldier on the battlefield. The students worked with MRE's and learned the different foods that became lifesavers for many in combat, the different foods and methods of preserving, and learning about how the food was sent or made on the battlefield as well. The students enjoyed the lab and look forward to doing many more labs of the same methods. Thank you again to the Academic Foundations for the support to do such a lab in the classroom.

Congratulations to Senior Jonah Ferris. This past weekend, Jonah was named to the 2026 All-Sectional Team for Scholastic Bowl. He also became just the second student ever to record 200 career tossups for Mt. Olive High School. Way to go, Jonah!
