🌟 A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to Kindergarten Family Night! 🌟
We had such a fun and memorable evening celebrating our amazing students. Families enjoyed sweet songs performed by our kinders, classroom superlatives, Rocket Math awards, and the creative Star Attraction posters made by students and their families. We wrapped up the night with snacks and smiles shared among friends and loved ones.
A special thank you to Mrs. Titsworth, Mrs. McDowel, our Title Reading program, and ALL of our incredible kindergarten teachers for hosting and organizing such a wonderful event! 💛📚🎶

Attention parents to incoming kindergartners!

Students in Mr. McAnulty’s Computer Concepts class are learning about programming algorithms by designing and refining their own. Students began by creating algorithms about everyday decisions. Then at the end of the unit, were tasked with designing an algorithm for a self-driving car that sensed an object in the road. Students had to not only account for driver safety and safety of those around them, but also traffic and road conditions.

Please fill out this short survey if you would be interested in a free summer meal pick-up. This survey is to gage interest in the program. It does not guarantee the program.

Last week, the Handle with Care Program, through the Macoupin County Public Health Department, donated student gift bags to our school. The bags included items to promote mental health and wellness. Ten students were randomly selected to receive these fun gift bags.
If your family is experiencing challenges at home, and your child may need extra support and compassion at school, you may contact the school and ask us to "handle [your child] with care." You will not be asked to provide details. The Handle with Care Program is available to all Mt. Olive students.

Ms. Greenwood's students are trying out the new sensory and gross motor equipment that was donated through the H.E.I.D.I. Association to our speech language pathologist Mrs. Allen to utilize with her speech students.

Mrs. P's class made a list, voted, and officially named the chicks. Please meet, in no particular order: Cutie, Lily, Quarterback, Daisy, Junie B., Ben, and Finch. We enjoyed having the chicks in our classroom for a whole week to observe. They went back to the farm that donated the eggs, so they can live their best life! Thank you to the Davidson family for allowing our classroom to have such a special experience. One more thank you to the Academic Foundation for the grant allowing Mrs. P to purchase the incubator and brooder that worked amazingly!
Oh! They also decided on our tadpole names as well: Larold, Lily, and Lonnie. Larold is still pretty small so there are no legs forming yet. But Lily and Lonnie are sprouting their back legs. Check them out! We love to discuss the differences we notice each day.

Mt. Olive CUSD #5 is pleased to welcome Mrs. Stephanie Cann as our Interim Superintendent. In Dr. Kelly's absence, Mrs. Cann will assume leadership responsibilities for the remainder of the academic year. With extensive experience as both a principal and a retired superintendent, Mrs. Cann brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our district. We look forward to her guidance and leadership during this transition.

Congratulations to our High School High Honors and Honor Roll students from quarter 3!

If you have a Pre-K through 5th grade student and are interested in the summer program at school, please return this form or contact the school so we can gage interest.

Mrs. Boehler's class is learning that April showers bring May flowers with their umbrella craft and learning about a butterfly life cycle with an interactive story.

You have until Friday at the end of the day!

Thanks to everyone, another successful Book Fair has ended. The Easter Bunny made a special appearance and handed out goodie bags to the younger classes and attendance prizes awarded. The profits made from the fair go towards new books, the Santa visit and the AR assembly at the end of the year. Thank you to my 6th grade helpers for getting the library set up for the Fair and my High School students for coming to help with the classes.
